The Platform

The Archistar platform directly addresses the most time-consuming tasks that property and design professionals face daily.

The first challenge is the time spent conducting manual research across multiple platforms and data sources. Archistar has consolidated the most important information and combined them with a modern, outcome-focused user experience.

The second challenge is the bulk calculation that must be conducted in order to make a confident decision to move forward or discard a site. Archistar provides highly customisable calculators that allow you to complete calculations the way you want to but across hundreds or thousands of sites in a matter of minutes.

The third challenge is the extremely complex issue of understanding what is allowed to be built on a site. Government documentation and rules are difficult to understand and each region has its own quirks which makes it hard to expand out of your comfort zone. Archistar has tackled this massive challenge by spending the time to research, normalise and document planning policy rules to display them in an easy-to-understand format.

The fourth challenge is the time spent creating concept designs for sites while respecting government rules. Architects and designers must first comb through government documentation to understand what is allowed. Next, time is spent creating multiple concepts using CAD tools. Archistar streamlines this process by providing a generative design engine that respects government rules. This engine generates hundreds of 3D designs and immediately analyses them for floorplate, dwelling mix, sunlight, shadowing and more. Concept iteration now takes minutes instead of days.

As the lead product designer and the first designer at Archistar I had the opportunity to design the bulk of the key platform pillars find & assess, feasibility, designer, compliance, reporting, Archi homes, communities, regions/layers and Academy as well as set the blueprint design pattern for how the platform UI & UX was to unify all the product offerings into a single ecosystem.
